Hi Ash You have 2 or 3 options Check the Kinkos website. They have a free sw. This sw is a virtual printer so you can print from Punch directly to their plotters You can use a PDF program. There are several (free) programs, they work as a virtual printer to create a PDF file, you can set the size of the paper and the quality. And after this process, the file is extremely easy to print or send the PDF to the print shop You can see more info about PDF printing in this page of my website http://www.punchhelpers.com/pdfprint.html Other interesting (and free) resource is the DWF conversion. You can download the DWF writer for free in the Autodesk page and it works in the same way that the PDF writer (check with your print shop if the accept DWF files) You can see more info about DWF printing in this page of my website http://www.punchhelpers.com/dwffiles.html Hope this helps Patricia |

Is there an easy way to convert plans to a different type of file extension so other viewer software can open them or edit them? I would like to provide plans to my building code office to obtain a building permit. I have been able to print the whole plan on a normal 8.5" x 11", but it rather small. I would like to enlarge the print and use the same size paper, but have yet to discover how to do that. I would also like to zoom in and print certain details of that print.I would like to zoom or enlarge the entire print or portions of the print and save it in a non-Punch Software file extension, without jumping through a ton of hoops, so I can open it on another computer that doesn't have the Punch software loaded onto it.

Hi basically, the options are in the post above, but lets review all the options for Platinum 1 - You can export to DXF / DWG (Plat 4--> File Export --> DXF) (Plat 8 and Up --> Power Tools --> DXF / DWG Exporter) --> You can export and print the scaled plan to any size of paper 2 - Visualize your plan, or a sector and take a shot of the screen--> Print Screen-->Go to MS Paint-->Paste--> Trim the image--> Save as *.jpg, *.bmp, etc. 3 - If you have a PDF writer, you can create your own scaled PDF files. Just follow this short tutorial http://www.punchhelpers.com/pdfprint.html There are many free PDF writers, go to www. download.com and perform a search with the keyword "free PDF"--> You can create a jpg from the PDF or simply open the PDF with Photoshop Elements (File--> Import--> PDF image) with any PDF writer--> most of them have a large paper selection, and you can choose, color or black and white. You can also crop a part of the plan. The BD office can open / write the PDF files, make annotations, etc. 4 - Of course, if your printer allows larger papers' sizes, you can print to scale (File --> print to scale) 5 - DWF files--> You can download (free) the Autodesk True viewer and Design review tools in order to convert your files to DWF and print them after I have a tutorial in my website http://www.punchhelpers.com/dwffiles.html Let me know if you have questions Patricia |
