When I save a workshop object, the preview box has no pix of object showing - just a blank blue or black square. Any help appreciated - using Punch Professional Home Design Platinum v. 12

Hi BSA2,

First of all, remember that, in order to get the automatic thumb, you must "Save to library"and not "Save As" (this last action only will save the POB in a certain location)
In addition, I saw the empty thumb issue trying to save large (in kb) objects. The automatic thumb is a sort of screenshot, so if the screen is blank / blue during the "picture time" :-), the thumbnail will be blank / blue
Save to library again with the same settings (and without closing the 3D workshop) usually helps

I was told by customer service that this program is not compatible with a shared graphics card. The computer that I'm trying to run it on has 3GB of ram to share too. I'm not sure why it matters, but it is apparently a design flaw that was overlooked considering how many laptops use a shared card.

I am using Professional Home Design Platinum, Version 12 and I have a number of questions with regard to the following items: Basements: I would like to design my ranch style house with a fully finished walk-out basement. However, I cannot seem to find instructions either in the book or on the tutorials on how to proceed with the main floor once the foundation is in and sunk down using the elevation slider to create the basement. Live View: In the old Punch Home Design Suite (Version 5.1 or 5.2, I think) I used to be able to switch working floors without always having to adjust the LiveView cursor’s working elevation…it is very inconvenient to have to stop and adjust the thing every time I want to view a different floor. Is there a setting in the software somewhere that I can set to make it so it’ll just go to the floor I am working on? Ceilings: Also, once you click “build ceiling” and build a ceiling, if for some reason you need to get rid of it…or edit its properties, how do you do that? The only way you can see it in the drawing is in Elevation Editor, but as far as I can see, there’s no way to work with it or view it in any other tool or viewer. I would like to not always have cathedral ceilings in my homes. Roofing: In the roofing wizard, is the hip roof the only roof that will be created? Sometimes I’d like to do a hip/gable, or full gable roof and as I am not really good at free hand drawing the roof I am having trouble doing those kinds of roofs. Thank you kindly for your kind assistance with this matter.

Hi Debra_44,

Basement: draw the walls--> select the walls--> Edit--> set object elevation--> you can set the negative elevation for your basement
Liveview: in all the Punch versions the yellow man elevation needs to be set manually. You can graduate the green man with the mouse wheel. Or, of course, you can use the chopper
Ceiling: create a ceiling--> with the ceiling still selected--> Edit--> move to plan--> (deck or landscape, etc)--> Set different colors for each tab--> View--> Screen colors. In this way, your ceiling will have a different color in the plan. For some tabs (deck or landscape for example) you can hide the floorplan, and visualize only the ceiling
Roof The roofing wizard creates hip and gable roofs. See
