Hi Joy1950,
The best way to use the WB tool: apply it in the middle of the wall and drag it to the desired position.
Perhaps you are applying the WB on a floor or 3D object... so go far from the point and drag it

Thanks for the response on using the WB tool - it worked when I did it the way you described. However, it created another problem. After dragging the WB to the desired location, portions of the original wall "sprout out" on either side. I can't click on these extensions and I don't know how to fix that. Have you run into this before?

Hi Joy1950,
I am not sure what do you mean. Why you can't click? you can't select? do you receive an error message? are you selecting a floor or other element? do you have a door or window in the middle?
Also, you can select the wall using the lasso (rectangular selection around the walls) or, if you prefer, you can open the Elevation Editor (Power Tool) and select the walls or make changes
