Using AS-18 6.0.1
Am trying to export the 2D floor plan to DXF format.
When I display the plan in 2D and select:
File -> Export
I get only the options of BMP and VRML. And these generate 3D views anyway...
Seems I read earlier in the forum about a DXF export option.
OR - an Alternative to DXF:
How about adding to the wishlist, support for a vectorized EPS export.
Not as rich as a true DXF, but better than tracing screen-shots! (ha ha - been there...).
I've tried printing to file through the standard Windows Postscript diver (which allows one to select EPS format), but what comes out is bitmap (raster) format output. Using a postcript driver in that way is unecessarily limiting. PS can handle the vectors directly - and without having to "build-in" all the (quirky/secret/proprietary) DXF bulk into the program.
Encapsulated Postcript is a very open standard, and useable by many programs (at worst through one of the many filter/converters).
Since Punch is natively vector already, it is nearly all the way there - why not feed the "raw" data to the driver? From there we can take print files and "play" with them as we need.?

Hi Alex,
The DXF import tool is a Punch power tool, and you'll find these tools at the right bottom corner of your screen (see image attached)

I have the same problem you reported. My exported .dxf file prints in ACAD only an outline with neither text nor dimensions. Did you solve this problem? If so, how.

Well, yes, in the last two years, Punch changed a lot, and the DXF export feature was improved
If you tell us what version you are using, we'll help you with your DXF issues

I have Arch.3000 version 10 and cannot export dxf. When I open the file there is dimensions but no wall outline or sometimes it is the opposite. I never know. Did not have this problem with my old Arch. Series 18 version. Any help would be appreciated.

How do I chandge the file format? When I try and save my plans it will only save in "pro' how do I change that?

Hi fj5race
In Punch, you can "Save As" a file only as Punch file, however, you can Export them in a diversity of formats
You can Export your floorplans to DXF or DWG using the DXF / DWG Exporter (power tools), the CAD format is automatic using this power tool, you just need to select between DXF or DWG and the CSD ersion

An additional comment
CAD are also two ways for versions 6 and up (import and export)
I don't know of any kind of restrictions to import the plans

Is there a way to export a floor plan to dxf, or something else compatible with AutoCAD? I have an old version of 3D Home, probably version 1....from around 1995, and it would export as a dxf beautifully. But now I am using Version 9 and don't see any way to do this.
