I just upgraded to v22 and was working on an outside deck. Under the Deck tab, I selected straight stairway then drew the endpoints next to a deck I have. In the properties side bar on the right, I click Draw Handrails... nothing happens other than a blue check and nothing happens in the 3d view either. Am I doing something wrong? If I recall in the prev version, I could also select left, right and type.

Hi there, Lots of V22 features are different from previous versions. Originally Posted by: PBrama In the properties side bar on the right, I click Draw Handrails These are the 2D handrails (pointed with red in arrows the image below) Originally Posted by: PBrama If I recall in the prev version, I could also select Left, Right and Type. In the drop-down menu, select the railing tab (pointed with a blue arrow in he image below) => in the Properties Bar => type of rail is => Rail Materials (pointed with magenta arrow in the image below). You can select the right / left rails in 3D using the menu outlined in green in the image below. Punch, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read, search and follow the User Guide (this is important) => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components. If you are interested, my eBook for Punch V22 for Windows includes lots of tutorials about the new features. Rails.jpg (30kb) downloaded 1 time(s).Hope this helps. |

Thanks Patricia.... didn't "see" the drop down at the top of the properties tab.
I also purchased the eBook... been very helpful as well.

Glad to know that you like the eBook! I'd suggest that you check the Rail Components and Properties section (page 74 of the eBook) Hope this helps. |
