I would like to design a pavilion roof ledgered off a home's rear side to cover a paver patio. What is the best way to accomplish this task? The design will be a 16x14 gable roof with only 2 posts (as I said, one end will be ledgered off of home), minimal rafters with 3/4" plywood roof deck, shingles, etc. Built to current IRC spec. I will use it to showcase for the customer as well as obtain permits from the municipality. I don't see a way to do this without building walls. Also, is there a way to get my material and cut list once complete? Thanks in advance for any help!! I am running punch architectural with ds 2021

Hi there, Originally Posted by: shingleco I don't see a way to do this without building walls. Also, is there a way to get my material and cut list once complete? You can use the elements in the Framing tab (columns, beams and joists). In addition, create the roof using a freehand roof. The framing elements will be visible in 3D Framing mode. All these materials will be listed using the Estimator Power Tool. Hope this helps. |

Hi Pat, and thanks for your reply. I just bought TT 21 from your store and looked through to better understand what you were saying. I have managed to place a roof, posts and beams but can't seem to figure out how to make the posts and beams visible in 3d. Also I don't see how to view the roof framing (joists) in 3d or add decorative wraps to posts or beams, and fascia boards and soffit as well as a gable wall to the free-standing gable for siding, trim, etc.. Your advice and help is greatly appreciated!

Figured out how to add columns and view in framing mode. Is there a way to add a wall to gable end of open roof?

Thank you for your purchase! You can add a gable wall and set the framing settings (you will find all the framing settings in the eBook - Framing Visual Guide - page 127) => the gable will appear framed in 3D Framing mode. Hope this helps. |

i can see how to add wall and modify in framing but i only want the wall in the gable itself (above the rim beam/joist). I can use gable/saltbox to get shape but can't raise into place to fill only gable end above the beam...

I think I got it... I just copied it to floor #2, and seems like it worked... Is this the correct procedure?

Hi there, Originally Posted by: shingleco I just copied it to floor #2, and seems like it worked... Is this the correct procedure? It depends of the plan you wish to create. There are 2 options: one is set the wall in the second floor (as you did). The second option => keep the wall in the first floor => select the wall => change the elevation of the wall. Hope this helps. |
