I've used some version of Punch Home software for a long time, at least 15 years, and the computer I have it on has been fine, a little slow on the 3D redraws, but nothing terrible. Since I've switched to 25 I find my computer is really lacking in power, especially in the video card area. I do have a very competent gaming computer, Intel 12th generation I7 with an NVIDIA 3060ti that would run this just fine. I want to migrate it over to the gaming computer but can't figure out how to unregister the system I originally installed it on so that I can activate it on my new one.

Just to be clear, this is all on the up-and-up. I'm not trying to cheap out and put it on both computers and I'm not interested in a way to install it and run it without properly activating it, I just want to migrate it to my gaming computer.

On another note, however, I see there's a warning in one of the FAQ's about not loading and using a file on a server or another pc across a network. I do that now and have no problems (the plans are located on my server), is there a reason for not doing this other than potential data corruption, which is possible no matter where you save and store your work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

First, let's clarify some important concepts:

- Old Punch versions (before version 22) used the video card to produce rendered images.
- Versions 22, 24 and 25 use LuxCore as rendering engine.
- As you can see in the Punch main page, LuxCoreRender is a physically-based rendering engine that simulates the flow of light according to physical equations to produce realistic images. This means that the video card is minimally used and the main element / component is the chip.
- I didn't have a good experience with a brand new gaming computer. I am using a solid tower computer with an excellent chip and lots of memory.

As we (on the Forum) are volunteers, we don't have access to serial numbers or installation servers. Only tech support can solve these issues.

Hope this helps.

That's interesting. I may have to go back and look but I thought there was a way in the old versions to suspend your license and put it on a different computer. I could be wrong, but I think that's what I had to do after a hard drive crash. I wasn't aware of the change in the video processing, although I think I would still benefit with the migration because my gaming computer has 64GB or ram vs. this one's 16 and a much faster processer. I have already put in a tech ticket for this as I'd still like to migrate it over. Thanks for the reply.

Probably yes for your current version. Nope for older versions.
